foodlink is organised by the Food and Drink Federation which represents the UK food and drink manufacturing industry. The foodlink programme has been running for over 15 years and is designed to raise awareness, amongst consumers of all ages, about the simple steps that they can take to keep their food safe. The Food Standards Agency is now the lead partner in Food Safety Week which this year took place from Monday 9 June to Friday 13 June 2008. The theme of their UK-wide campaign is "GermWatch", designed to raise awareness of good food hygiene practice especially the 4Cs (Cleaning, Cooking, Chilling and avoiding Cross-contamination). At local level the programme is supported across the UK by environmental health departments, health promotion and infection control teams, schools, companies and individuals organising awareness raising activities.
